My time working at Paper Source really inspired my love of chalk and large format lettering. I worked there for a year as a Customer Sales Associate and Hand Lettering Instructor. When I wasn't demonstrating my favorite pens to a customer, I was often working on chalk signage that advertised upcoming events or sales. None of these signs were pre-conceptualized, but rather, free handed in house. I wasn't allowed to have my phone on the floor, so all the inspiration came from my own mental archive of past designs that I made! I'm pretty proud of the work I've done at Paper Source and it's really challenged and stretched my ability. Should you ever find yourself needing a secondary job as a designer, I encourage you to find one that fuels your creativity.
