The Inspiration

Theme: Christmas at Home
Scripture Passage: Ephesians 3v15–17
Key Words: home, trust, roots, grow, love, strong, experience, complete, life, power, abundance.

When I was thinking of things that reminded me of home, something that came to mind was books. Not only are books homey, but they are charming and nostalgic — just like Christmas in Fort Langley. With that in mind, I decided to make the LWC Christmas branding resemble a vintage book cover. The illustration represents some of the key themes of Christmas at Home: In the middle is the Star of Bethlehem, which is symbolic of the coming of Christ and Jesus being at the center of everything. Around the star are candles, which represent hope, light, experience, and the passing of time. Next are the hearts, which directly link back to the first half of the subtitle (let every heart). After that, I illustrated managers to symbolize the anticipation of Jesus' birth. Each corner has a house that represents the second half of the subtitle (prepare him room), home, and abundance. Lastly, the borders are festive branches that tie back into the theme of “roots” found in Ephesians.

Jess really hit the nail on the head: the symbolism, the tone, the clarity of messaging, the mode of delivery (vintage book style), all of it. Looking at every detail reminds me of studying intricate Christmas ornaments or mantlepieces!
